The frozen death of a flower

This flower, found in one of the gardens of the Royal Horticultural Society, will have given pleasure to many visitors. The yellow petals, open wide against the greens and browns of the backcloth in the garden, would have drawn eyes to the natural beauty of the flower - especially when the sun's rays shine down on it from a blue sky.

But now the frosts have come, and the flower is dying. The sky is still blue and the sun is still shining, but the cold weather has got its tentacles into the flower, and the flower can't do anything but succumb.

Even in its death, though, the flower still has a certain beauty. And it gave gave me pleasure as I took this photograph. I hope it gives you pleasure as well.
