it's good enough for Sunny. Usually he likes to stand on the edge of Melba's hay box and taste the hay so this surprised me to see him sleeping in it.

This image was taken in January. A few months earlier I accidentally tripped over the pet bed in the dark and broke the fiber board in two. It managed to support the other pets but gave way when Bongo got on it. He didn't think it was very funny.

Kara has an obstruction and she's at the vet's today. Being one of the primary groomers to the cats and her BFF Melba, I'm not sure if it's a hairball or if it's something else. It's the first time this has happened and hopefully she will be alright.

Just heard back from the vet, there's some impaction and her glands were full but she's going to be fine!

Kara, Melba and Rudy hang out in the sunlight and enjoy some grooming time. Kara gets to enjoy the extra warmth of Melba sitting beside her, Melba gets to be with her friends and get pampered, and Rudy knows Melba will welcome his grooming her. It's a win-win-win!

These images were taken nearly a year ago early Easter Sunday morning, 2012. I was planning to take photos of the colored eggs but the cats were making such a racket trying to break open the door to the room I was in that I let them in and took photos of them instead.

Rudy was especially fascinated by the Easter eggs and these are photos of him from that morning.

Melba is doing very well after her eye trauma in January which revealed she's blind in her left eye, and being treated for a cold in February. Thanks to the bunny lovers who gave me good advice throughout the ups and downs.

Melba spent a couple hours napping with Kara on Valentine's Day. Melba was poked and prodded by a vet the day before so she appeared very relaxed and in no rush to leave her BFF's side even though Kara slept the entire time.

I'm tired of standing still, did you get my picture yet?

Melba was seen by the vet today about her left eye. There was a chance she would be operated on today but she had some congestion. This morning she didn't want to get in her carrier, the last time she had a vet appointment she hopped right in. Makes me think she knew something and was trying to let me know she knew.

Because Bongo is such a big long cat he doesn't fit very well on the cat tree. He tries but then he ends up with his head hanging off and eventually starts choking for air. A while ago we got him one of these loungers but he still wasn't able to fit on it so easily so eventually we got another one to give him more room to spread out without falling off.

It's coming up on a month that Marlowe was adopted. There's an issue he has going on with his mouth and chin. We will have to return him to the rescue shelter this weekend as we have our hands full with Melba's recent eye problems. He's a content little guy, has excellent litter box skills, and the cats treat him just like another pet in the house.

When he was kept in a room behind a closed door the cats would all want in and were so curious about him. Then I moved him close to their pet zone, left his pen wide open and the curiosity factor ended immediately! Marlowe doesn't venture off the rug onto the tile floor but occasionally a cat comes by and sniffs him and checks to see what he's up to. He and Melba are separated by a barrier that keeps them several feet apart within full view of each other.

This is Melba's left eye in better times. Last weekend I discovered it was sunken down and part of her eye opening was hollow. After her vet saw her I thought everything was going to heal fine. But this week her left eye turned blue and she will be seeing a specialist to make sure there isn't a tumor involved. Please keep her in your thoughts that everything will be alright with her. Her left eye isn't reacting to motion so it looks like she's blind in that eye now.

Marlowe had his own troubles yesterday when his whole body was tilting sideways. The vet couldn't find anything wrong and thinks maybe he got bit by a spider. I suspect since he had some injuries from other bunnies fighting with him out in the wild that he may have been bitten in a couple spots.

This pic of Melba is from early January. This past Sunday Melba's left eye literally sunk and we took her to the overnight pet ER not knowing what was wrong with her. Apparently it's a bacterial infection from something getting in her eye. She's been on meds and her eye is no longer sunken.

I'm sorry I've been absent from flickr, I caught a bug in January and was antibiotics and am just starting another round of different antibiotics. To my contacts, I've missed looking at your images and promise I will get to them just as soon as I can. I hope you all are well and don't catch the cold or flu going around.

Meet Marlowe, Melba's new friend and Kara's too

Ten days ago we adopted this little fellow. We didn't have a room prepared since we weren't expecting Melba to find a match so quickly. I didn't want him hopping around or stuck waiting in a pet carrier while we got things ready so I put him with Kara. I knew she might not like him in her space and would leave if she was too uncomfortable but she stayed, a good sign. The other cats were in other rooms and Melba was in her cardboard house, she'd had a long afternoon.

Marlowe must have sensed something about Kara because he was so relaxed and at home next to her. To follow up, a few days later I took Kara into his room, I gave her a nice massage and she then went up to him twice and groomed him briefly. I wasn't expecting that and didn't have my camera to capture it but it was very sweet to witness her accepting him.
