Making Your Videos "Spreadable"

Why would a 15-minute video get more views than a 90-minute one? It depends on the content, ease of access, and the ability to share.

My 15-minute mobile video broadcasting presentation was included in a 90-minute video. I extracted that 15-minute excerpt and shared it. The resulting video became something that people wanted to watch, share and write about.

The video cameras in newer cell phones have become live-reporting tools, courtesy of new services that send moving images over the Internet as they're being captured. These services include Qik, Kyte, ComVu and Flixwagon.

When paired with certain cutting-edge handsets, such as Nokia's N95, live video journalism becomes possible. Anyone can become an eyewitness, capture those first steps, or whip up their own streaming video blog. 2008 is the year of Personal Mobile Broadcasting.

On this edition, we talk with Pioneer video blogger Steve Garfield who ran coverage of Super Tuesday in Boston using this technology. He shows us how he did it.

I just used the Comvu PocketCaster to broadcast live from my Nokia N93 cellphone over WiFi to a web page.

Amazing.
