Colourful Cullin

James G Photography posted a photo:

Walking back from where we had stood in one of my previous Elgol images the clouds started to take on a fantastic colour and the wet rocks were picking up some colour and light too despite the sun having gone past the horizon.

I quickly set up, this time checked my settings (haha) and took a few quick snaps and was quite pleased with this one.
Salt Cellar Heather - Derwent Edge

"A Breath of Fresh Air" - Landscape Photography of the Peak District Exhibition - Castleton Visitor Centre - 3rd September to 30th September

Just over a week ago, on a very rainy Sunday I decided to have my last ditch attempt and get up to Salt Cellar on Derwent Edge while there was still a tiny amount of life in the heather.

Very thankful after the long trek in that I arrived 30 minutes before the golden hour I was able to spend a little time messing with compositions. Even more thankful was the fact that we never did get golden hour, because believe it or not the sun went behind a big bank of cloud just out of shot as golden hour hit. This was taken just before making most of the light.
Methoni Castle Sunset

A variation on my previous uploads, this time including the sun just before it went below the horizon. Methoni is a village that lies at the very south of the west peninsula on the Peloponnese. It has a large castle at the end of the village with a large moat around part of it and see around the rest. While most people go for sunset a bit higher up on the ground you can see to the right of this photo I was determined for a different angle and went down into the moat to some rock pools with the sea which you can see beyond, you may just be able to make some figures out in the distance watching the set. I was fortunate enough for no wind for the water in front to provide some lovely reflections.

My first ever seascape sunset at Haggar Qim in Malta. I love the leading line and the rocks (although a little dark) and the colours in the sea, just feel the sun has bled too much despite using f/18 to try and get a burst effect from it.

Yes, thats right...we have a limestone pavement in the Peak District too. It's not very well known and I for sure have only seen one other picture of it, so forgive me for wanting to keep the location a little secret. Received some great stormy side lighting, but been looking at the best date to go for sunset, which will be later in the year!

So I finally visited this location that had been on my list so long. Shame it was on a bank holiday weekend when it was teeming with people. That said, once I got my HUGE tripod out and set up, no one even came near me. Must have thought I was professional or something! The picture really doesn't do the place justice like so many others I have seen, never thought it'd be so hard! Perhaps will visit again once the area has had some rain.

So I went up to the Lake District last weekend, after a failed sunset the night before and a big walk up and around Blencathra on the saturday, I frantically rushed around for a sunset. I headed up to Castlerigg but it was infested with people, obviously so after debating between Latrigg and this, I went back to the obvious. This was after the sun had gone down behind the mountains and I was using a big stopper and a 3 minute 10 second exposure to really slow things down.

Haggar Qim is on the south easten side of the small island of Malta near the Blue Grotto. On my first visit to the island and doing my first ever day of seascapes I was taken back by this sandstone arch. I'd have loved to get down low, but this was taken from above on the cliff's with a lee big stopper. Not sure if I made the wrong choice using a big stopper?
A belated New Year to Everyone. Apologies if I haven't commented on I'm sure what is truly excellent recent shots of yours in recent weeks, I have been without internet and been getting on where I could!

Anyway, not been out so much in the last month. Really dull until last week when I headed up to Over Owler Tor and Millstone Edge. Me and a friend waited around thinking this sunrise wouldn't happen, but it came all of a sudden casting a lovely light. Not my usual style of work, but nice for a change every now and again. I like it anyway, hope you do too!

James G Photography posted a photo:

After a walk up from Wet Sleddale Reservir to our bothy, we decided to carry on up to Branstree. It was late evening and while thinking there wasn't much to photograph I just got my compact Canon S90 out and snapped this when I finally got into view of Haweswater.
