Neptunes Staircase

This is Neptunes Staircase at Banavie, near Fort William. It is a series of eight locks that rise 64 feet and is the longest staircase lock in the UK.

After feeling very frustrated of spending two days being rained on and no images being made I had decided it would be good to go out at night.

The last time I was here the lights were not turned on and considered it a risk to go when it was out of season but my luck was in tonight

Steep Hill

Steep Hill in Lincoln is a famous little cobbled hill leading up to the Cathedral lined with lovely little shops on either side - the challenge is waiting for a moment with no people!

Some lovely colours and I was just playing about when it was starting to fall dark. Love the multiple tones. Wasn't sure what else to do without having to include the ugly grey sky.

Odd Angle

Another one from my shoot at Lincoln and the last photo of the day. I actually did not compose this image at all! I decided while shooting some abstracts of the cathedral at night to have a go at randomly positioning the head and not look through the viewfinder and what I got. Was quite pleased really. It was in colour but no matter what I did,. the overpowering luminance of the yellow lighting was far too off-putting so a nice B+W conversion instead to highlight the detail.

Cathedral Abstract

So a little something different for me I guess. Outdoor Photography gave me a ring a week or so ago asking if I wanted to take part in their readers workshop with a light and land leader in Lincoln. Thought, you know what? I've hardly done any work outside of landscapes and cityscapes was something I really wanted to do more of. So I headed to Lincoln last Friday and did some work which has been submitted to OP for the June edition. This is an abstract of the cathedral at dusk, what I liked most was the contrast in cool to warm because the lights hadn't all turned on.
