Around here Jackdaws are very shy and although I often see them high in the oak tree, which is to far for a capture, I finally captured this guy today, I love it when I manage to make a new capture to my library.

Seven hopefully is lucky, as there are still seven babies left.
This morning about 4am I was woke by a very loud quaking, I got up to find only six babies, after walking around the garden in my dressing grown, I found the lost baby walking up the middle of the road, luckily with my help it was reunited with mum and all are safe, yet again !! it's a full time job keeping my eye on these little ones.

Yes I know 8 in the photo, but i took this a couple of days ago, now sadly there are only 7 babies left.
The heron has been trying to land all day, and he is my number one suspect !!
Luckily one of my dogs called Poppy does not like the heron, so every time he shows up, she barks and i run out to scare the heron off, the two adult mallards on the pond have ago at him as well, but i'm not sure they would be so successful if i wasn't running around waving my arms in the air, my neighbors must think i have really lost the plot ...:-))))

On counting the babies this morning i discovered that one is missing, now there are 8 babies. It is so sad, but a fact of nature, Last year there was a mallard on my pond who lost 10 babies in the first week, so this mallard has done well as these babies are now 3 weeks old and she has only lost the one.

This is the second mallard mum with her brood and i am please to say they all are present and correct, both lots are growing fast.

Bad news !! my lens is going to be another week in the repair shop, when i phoned Friday they actually told me the same thing as last Friday, that the part had only arrived from Olympus yesterday and the lens would be ready for me to collect on Friday, but hey what can i do they have my lens, so i suppose I shouldn't hold my breath !!!!!

An update on my Bruce, he is my 11 year old Rottweiler.
He had to wear a buster collar for a while, because he had a rash, now it has all cleared up and he is happy again.
His age is catching up with him, but he is still enjoying a full active life
