► A little bit of Dutch architecture (so not the Headoffice in Denmark). For those interested, I pushed the file to about Iso 12800/25600 for this night shot.

A little interlude before I continue with my Turning Torso series. After that I hope to work on a snowscape series - if we get any snow this winter (hopefully there will at least be a bit in January, the coldest month).
What are your plans for the winter?

Personal Perseus

► Time to say Hi after all this time. A self portrait, made during the meteor shower close to the constellation Perseus earlier this August. Far in the distant, I think I heard a Depeche Mode song, or was it the sound of the waves, hmm... While there definitively are shooting stars in this photo, I am not 100% sure the intense trail is a true meteor (satellite, airplane?), It is just so insanely intense!

► So, this is the second image in my moth series, although it really is a diptych (with the title ”The seventh seal”). However, since diptychs do not display well at Flickr, I choose to upload it as a series instead. I guess I was inspired by the duality in the mythology of moths to create a diptych, and the individual titles, borrowed from the Swedish film maker Ingmar Bergman, reflect my associations to the myths of moths and Bergman’s movies and his temperament, inspiring the different moods I choose to create. In mytholology, moths symbolises the bringer of light, the benefience of summer, and guardians of eternity, but may also foretell death – perhaps because of their fragile nature, or beacause they often are seduced to succumb in burning candle light. Bergman, who’s driving force for film making to a large extent emanated from his fear of death, somehow came to mind and influenced how I worked, and they way I utilized the background. However, I did not intend to write about the content of the images, rather I wanted to point out that it is the same background in the two images, no work of photoshop thus. It was the lighting of the background that differed between the two shots (I had to work fast, hoping the moth would not fly away). The background is some sort of clay, and the spots in the clay are deep within the clay itself, and that is why one may get the feel that the moth is a bit suspended in the darker image. I wanted this effect, but in afterthought, I was thinking that this may lead people to believe I simply cloned the moth to different backgrounds in photoshop, and while I do not object to photoshop (I use it a lot in the development of my images, e.g. here I used it for B&W conversion and control of tones etc), this was not what I used to create the effects. Perhaps not important, but I often like to learn how other photographers created their images, hence my ramblings.

► Oops! Sorry, the next photo will be 22nd of August! I got a chance to stay in a rural (no internet) cottage on the east-coast during the Perseids meteor shower, so I will not upload anything that week. Hopefully I will also soon share some shooting star photos taken during the meteor shower.

► A photo from the archieves; one hot summer day - a tornado-shaped cloud over some distant islands in the Aegean archipelago. The sky reflected in the water, making the islands look as if they were levitating. And there really are three islands, but the island in between is extremely hard to see, if not viewed large. Hope you like it!

Hit L for large on black !

Öresund bridge, now with new stops. The underground tunnel has opened, and now you can get off in the city centre as well (in Malmö, close to Inclusions), and not only at the main and urban stations.
Trying out some new software I got a few days ago, Lightroom and Photoshop CS5. Feel a bit rusty, and Lightroom will take some time to learn. The transition to CS5 was tough, as the gradient tool in CS4 allowed me to add and build up the transitions, whereas CS5 replaced them - until I figured out I should select no background instead of white :)

My photostream on black !

Used 16 stops of ND-filters, 115mm @ f16, 1 minute exposure - but at ISO 6400. Why? Well, wanted to get the grain in camera, yet a long exposure. Bad idea?

Midsummer moonrise

Getting home from the traditional midsummer celebration, the sky was so clear that the setting sun colored the opposite side of the sky and the rising full moon. And yes, it really was this bright. Further north in Sweden, the sun will only dip down, and then immediately turn into a sunrise. Would be fun to do a sunset-to-sunrise photo in one exposure. Well, maybe next time?
