"She sits pretty" -says one of the owners.
Both Delilah and her relative, Whiskey Moon, have food allergies. I tried to give them food, but they showed me the stomachs of their dogs, red and irritated, to show what happens if someone gives their dogs the wrong food. They had the correct food with them, but it gets expensive.

Sweet dog. The owner explained to me the time some people tried stealing his dog while he was sleeping. He was angry just talking about it. Some genuine love there.

I often run into Cassie on Haight Street and it is always pleasant talking to her. Ivan is about 6 months and he is already a big dog and makes noises like he is trying to talk. It is great to see him a little larger every time I see him.

Ti and her owner left Haight Street. She was talking about going to Big Sur and hiking to the hot springs in the mountains out there. I hope she made it. Its beautiful there.

We went to Youngstown, Ohio to photograph a school board building among other locations around there. We drove from Pittsburgh to Youngstown and found the school board building recently demolished. Only the door and address was still standing. Not a very good start to the day. A nice police woman told us where other good abandoned spots are around there that would be fun to photograph and explore.

Once again, continuation of my current project photographing travelers and their "road dogs". This dog's name is Pi. She knows more tricks than my dog does and loves attention.

Pi's owner, the night before I took this picture, got stabbed twice with a pen. Someone approached her at night and Pi began to bark. The guy didn't like the dog barking at him. The story wasn't told to me clearly. I only got bits and pieces of it.

3/8/2013: Hillary and Pi left San Francisco and went south

4/14/2013: Someone told me Hillary and Pi are heading back to San Francisco from Texas.

This guy mumbled too much for me to understand what the dog's name was. The dog was super chill and friendly. The guy was a little out there.

Update
3/8/2013: I have been showing this picture to some of the street kids down on Haight and no one has seen this dog ever. I was on a bus and spotted a woman with long dreads walking this beautiful dog in the Tenderloin.

I am still working on the transient and dogs project. This image started getting me to think outside of just dogs. Met this guys with a rat he's been traveling around with for the past few weeks. I have also noticed a man with a cat I really want to photograph.

Found it interesting this guy had specialized rat food with him

This is another photo from my documentation project. I met this guy where Haight Street becomes Golden Gate Park. He stood alone with two dogs. One of them is a full size rottie mutt that I instantly fell in love with. The other is this sweet 6 month old shepherd mix named Nala. He got her for free from a family he stayed with during Thanks Giving. Both dogs looked very happy and healthy.

He was proud of his new coat and did not hesitate for pictures. He said he thinking of traveling down to New Orleans next.

Honestly still kicking myself for cutting off that dog paw in this picture

2/23/2013: I can't find this guy, but I found out someone else has both of his dogs. I also saw another guy walking around wearing this dude's jacket.

I recently started a project focusing on travelers and their dogs partly for a class on photography's role in activism, but mostly for myself. I'm documenting the relationship between the two. All the travelers I talked to have explained to me they would never give up their dog/s. They are extremely well trained and the owners are more capable of taking care of a K9 than maybe someone living in a home with a full time job. I walked around with dog food, but many of them already had large bags of dog food and wouldn't take mine.

Pesto is almost 2 years old and very smart. She knows all the basic commands and listens well. Her owner was shy.

2/16/2013: Pesto changed owners. The previous owner went back to New York.
