The Herons are always cautious and flighty when I slow the car down and this one was no exception.. I stopped the engine and it was getting ready for an instant getaway...two seconds later..

Tealham Moor

The Herons fly with their necks tucked in, a long slow wing beat and head feathers trailing in the wind...a common but beautiful sight..Tealham moor would seem naked without them

So, on the way home from work I usually detour back across Tealham Moor. The Heronry is at one end of Totney Drove and there are always plenty of Herons to be seen in that area, fishing for eels, frogs and fishies in the wet fields and rhynes.

There was sudden movement amongst the trees and I watched a large dark fox charge through the undergrowth with a Roe Deer in hot pursuit...They split up and the deer leapt out from the shelter of the shaded trees into the light and bounded past me into the light of the setting sun..

I was walking quietly along the edge of the magic drove filled with Oak and Silver Birch Trees. A large Badger set tucked into the roots of the trees behind me and marshy grassland ahead of me.

The sun was getting lower, a soft mist was starting to rise across the levels and the rainbows appeared in the meadows and trees...spiders webs catching the late light..

Took a late stroll last week...it was beautiful....the golden hour. With not a breath of wind and clear skies..quiet..still... calming.
This Buzzard was perched on a tree overlooking the North Drain on Tealham Moor. I photographed the same bird a few weeks back but it was dark, cold and grey. I took a few shots from the distance and then more as I got closer, thinking every shot would be the last one. Blow me down, the bird let me get about twenty feet away before it finally took off..and breathe!
