I got this idea from Amanda's tutorial on Simple Saving Savvy, but I used raffia for the hanger instead of pipe cleaners. Two-year-old Sam enjoyed eating the orange, lassoing things (including himself!) with the extra raffia, and filling & hanging the bird feeders... but he didn't care much about the rest of the process. Still, a fun little project.

Jane Linn taught our guild a lesson on using watercolor pencils & markers with polymer clay. She had the great idea of having us create individual samplers with the different types of media (Inktense, marker & watercolor pencil shown here), plus the different types of glaze or finish (TLS, Varnish, and Translucent or White Translucent polymer clay). I love analyzing stuff like this, so I really enjoyed Jane's lesson!

Stamped Pastel Switch Plate

I started this switch plate cover during Jane Linn's July 2011 OKPolyClay meeting on covering switch plates and using pencils and markers on polymer clay. I finished it at home (yay!) and brought it back for the August swap. It's a little more pastel-y then I usually do. I blame the little girl growing in my belly! ;-)

These pens were made with scraps from a Mokume-Gane jewelry project using the new Premo Accents colors Gold & Bronze. The top pen is a covered Bic Soft Feel Retractable Pen. The bottom is an Amazing Twist Pen.

I made these pendants using canes from the Simple Canes chapter (p.64) in Polymer Clay 101. The mosaic technique is similar to that used for the Mosaics Clock project (p.172).

The box for the Sculpey Keepsake Clay Frame Kit includes the following:

* 4.5 ounces of white clay
* plastic clay roller
* plastic pointy modeling tool
* metal hinged double frame
* white photo mat (fits a 4"x6" or 5"x7" photo)
* clear plastic pane to protect the photo and mat

It also includes these two things that I didn't include in my photo:

* the instructions, which are printed on the inside of the box
* ... and a perforated cardboard spacer sheet to make the photo fit snugly in the frame. Apparently.

Hand Prints

Here's a closer view of the hand print segment of Sculpey Keepsake Clay Frame Kit. If I were doing this again, I think I might go with just 1 hand impression. (The box shows 2 hands in all its pics, but I'm sure those were littler hands than Sam's.) I would also try to get Sam's hands cleaner before the hand print... but I think the combination of white clay and little boy hands will inevitably show *some* dirty spots. :-)
