I'd been taking a short break from Flickr and many other things since the arrival of my first child. Things have just gotten real mad and I hardly have any time to do my own thing nowadays. When I do log on to Flickr I try my best to view and comment on your images, but I'm sure I've missed quite a few of them - sorry!

Anyway I think I've somewhat adapted to this new crazy life. I'd really like to start uploading stuff again here. I hope this image is the first one of many to come. This is Leon having his first cry. The whole thing was an unbelievable experience. My hands were still trembling when I took this shot.

I had been wanting to take this shot of Boris for quite a while, and it was one of the first things I did when my DIY studio equipments arrived. He wasn't as happy as I was :-)

Michael was singing with his guitar when I approached him. He noticed my camera and to my surprise he asked me if I'd like to take some photos of him. The 5-minute build up of adrenaline seemed to have been unnecessary.

He asked me if it's gonna be a colour or black-and-white, to which I replied definitely a black-and-white. He smiled and said he always prefers that format. He also warned me not to use flash if I want him to look at the camera.

As if there hadn't been enough surprises, he also took a small book out of his T-Shirt and insisted that I keep it. He then claimed to be a prophet and started talking about the upcoming armageddon and how his book would help me understand it. Going through the book at home, it turns out that Michael holds double degrees and have some interest in astrophotography.

I had taken quite a few shots when I asked him if I could take one last shot before the goodbye. To my delight this last shot happens to be my favourite too. There's something about his thoughtful stare, and of course I love how the wind blows his hair slightly here.

My first attempt in both DIY studio and also maternity shoots.

The baby was due in a month time when this was taken (only a couple of weeks now!), and I thought it's about time we do this before it's too late. This was one of our personal favorites, although I should've done better with the creases on the muslin clothes.

It's gonna be a really different and exciting year for me. I wish you all a fantastic new year too!

- A silver reflector left of camera to fill
- A bare 430 ex ii behind the subject to light the backdrop - caught her right arm a little :-(

It's been too long since the last time I headed to the beach for a shoot. Seascape was the main reason I dived into photography, so it felt really great to be back.

This was taken at Point Peron, coincidentally the very first seascape location I'd been to. The wind was raging and I had to take great care not to be blown off the rock I was standing on. The recent bushfires in Perth suburbs must've added those thin layers in the sky. My heartfelt thoughts to all those affected by these tragic fires.

Kawah Putih (The White Crater), Indonesia.

Apparently this crater lake wasn't open to the public until 1987 because the locals believe in the myths of powerful spirits dwelling here.

The place does have that mystical atmosphere. It would have been more so had it been foggy. I can almost still smell the sulfur whenever I view this image.

We were rushing back to our hotel to make sure we'd catch the train on time to leave Venice when my other half spotted this cellist and urged me to take a quick snap. It was a busy corner with hundreds of tourists walking by, so it took me a while to get a clean shot. The cellist eventually noticed my presence and stared at me for just long enough for me to get a few shots with various compositions. I had a hard time deciding between this composition and the tighter one, but in the end the extra context this one provides won me over. I thanked my wife for this image.

PS: This looks a lot better on Flickr when viewed large.
