Friends -

I want to thank you for your continued support of my photography work online. Your encouragement has been an incredible blessing to me, as well as a crucial part of my growth as an artist. I have learned so much, and I am thankful that so many of you were able to participate and share in my 366 journey.

Through the maturation that accompanied the duration of my project , I have come to the realization that the only way to continue my growth as an artist is to eliminate all preconceived expectations by allowing my work to meet my own measure of quality, instead of altering it to meet what I believe the standards of others to be.

Publicizing my work on the internet has become a distraction that limits my interactions with all other pursuits. I certainly appreciate that social media has allowed me to communicate and share my art with so many people all over the world, but this season of my life is too important to spend time chasing after the wind - for it blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course (Ecclesiastes 1:6). Instead, I will work to give precedence to my communication abilities, so that I may eliminate prejudiced interference, and engage with the people in my life personally, who I value above all else.

Thus, it is only fair to notify you that after March 31, I will be "unpublishing" my photography business page, and I will be off of all social media - including Facebook, Flickr, and Tumblr - indefinitely, until I have accomplished my goals to simplify and improve my life.

Finally, I finish my 366.

I have one hundred different emotions concerning the end of this project, though none I can put into words. It has been a year (and sixty-one days) of tremendous growth, experience, frustration, inspiration, relationships, risk, and education, and I am so thankful for all that I experienced. During my 366, I experimented with HD video, mixed media art, and 35mm, 120mm, and Polaroid film, and I purchased my Nikon D7000 and my Hasselblad 500c (pictured above). This year has been a great challenge, and as well as a great gift. In 2013 I will continue to dedicate myself to this art. I know now I what field I want to study - I have chosen photojournalism, and I will be travelling the world with my camera and a backpack to capture countries, cities, cultures, people, and moments to share.

I owe so much gratitude to my family, friends, supporters, and the multitude of photographers who answered all of my many questions. Thank you all so very much.
I also owe much gratitude to Christ, for having the freedom, means, equipment, and encouragement to pursue the art I love beyond a hobby to my career. Every single blessing I have been given, I owe to Him.

I was worried that my basic photography class would restrict me rather than inspire me - which I may add was a very arrogant and ignorant supposition - but I have experienced quite the opposite. My class is small, and the other photographers don’t have the same developed and matured passion for the art that I presume to have, but I am thankful we can still relate through the common subject of photography.

And Anya and I had a discussion concerning diptychs last week and it greatly inspired me, as you can see. I have missed the feeling of inspiration. It affects me as a drug might. I feel it from my forehead to my fingertips. It isn’t a taste in my mouth, it isn’t a temperature on my skin, it isn’t a vision for my eyes, it isn’t an experience that I can tangibly describe, yet it awakens all my senses and I can’t focus until it is indulged and released through artistic expression. And that is a another reason why I have neglected to finish my 366 - I do not want it to end.

From my first roll of Hasselblad film! Unfortunately half of the photographs were lost due to issues with my back's advancement - which is obvious by the second exposure on the bottom of this photograph.
