Another shot of the paralympic tennis match we watched. Amazing to see how skilled and agile these guys were when I can barely hit a tennis ball in a straight line!

On a trip to Warwick castle at the weekend, we watched a bird show including this barn owl. Rather majestic as it flew above our heads and despite it's agility, we couldn't help but duck as it zoomed past.

A simple shot of the reflections of a bridge in the still water of the Shropshire canal. I can't take credit for this one entirely, I set the camera up and sent my girlfriend to the front of the boat because I was driving!

Ohrid town - Room with a view

We booked the apartment in Vila Meri without really knowing what to expect, but after stepping out on the balcony and admiring the view for the first time, it left us with very little doubt that we'd made the right choice.

Our view encompassed the amphitheatre, fortress, town walls and a beautiful view over those terracotta roofs to the harbour and tranquil, mountain surrounded, lake Ohrid.

I've overdone the detail on this HDR unfortunately, but I thought I'd leave it as it is to see what the reaction was like.

Ohrid Lake reflections

Not what the name suggests, this lake was far from 'Ohrid! Fed from springs from the surrounding mountains and pumping water in from underneath the lakes surface it's one of the purest lakes of it's size in the world. The visibility through the water is 22 metres!

Lake Ohrid sits at the south of Macedonia and borders Albania to the east. Teaming with fish which you can see clearly through the water, we travelled on one of the few larger boats allowed to travel across it's waters and I took this simple snap of one of the surrounding mountains.

We barely said a word, which is rare for me, as we travelled for 45 minutes from Sv Naum back to the town of Ohrid and admired the views.

Famous for it's trout and pearls, the lake is teeming with life, and has over 200 endemic species, however, the trout is currently in danger. Fishing has been banned for this particular species in Macedonia; shamefully the Albanian's have taken to using dynamite to extract the fish from their smaller section of the waters.

Bitola Guard Dog

Close to Bitola, Macedonia, we stayed in a lovely hotel just before the start of the Pelister national park. After a day out up in the hills we decided we may as well walk back to the hotel in Tarnovo and passed through some very rural locations.

Near the end of our walk was a hotel which was up for sale, and it had a dog looking out from the fence at us. We assume it was a guard dog, but I'm not entirely sure it was as he looked so nice... Wouldn't want to test that theory though!

During a recent trip on a friends boat, we started at this rather beautiful, if not terrifying aqueduct.

Looking back towards Llangollen, the sun started to set and we admired the lovely view back along the aqueduct path. On the other side is just metal holding all the water and boats in the canal.

Built by Thomas Telford and opened in 1805, the bridge stands 126 foot above the valley of the River Dee. Doesn't sound too high, but it felt like a long way down!

In the garden by our pond the other night, I spotted this drop of water in the centre of one of our alpine plants and it looked like just like glass from the way it was sitting. I was fiddling with my camera anyway, so took this snap.

Warwick Castle

Possibly Britain's finest castle, lots to do and see. Dating back to the 10th Century, attacked in 1264, besieged in 1642 and damage by fire in 1871, the Castle has nevertheless survived the ever-changing fortunes of history. Warwick Castle remained under the stewardship of the Earls of Warwick and later the Greville Family as a private home until 1978.

Worth a visit!

Warwick Castle Trebuchet, claimed (by the staff at Warwick Castle) to be the largest Trebuchet in the world today.

22 tonnes of wood and metal, it would have been used as part of a team of siege machines of up to 120 units used simultaneously firing up to 150kg with each shot.

More impressively, we saw it in action firing a projectile the distance of 2 football fields!

Not having much time to go out and photograph lately, I thought I'd create a new set called "Stuff around the house".

The plan is to take photos of everyday things in my house in an interesting way see what the reaction is.

First up, an old xbox 360 controller, shot with a macro lens and run through a cross process filter.

Up in West Yorkshire lays this beautiful building which I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at recently. Winner of "Britain's Best Homes", it was truly stunning inside and out.
