Spring tides in Yell Sound
The Sound connects the Atlantic Ocean with the North Sea. At Spring tides, the water is moving much faster; if a gale blows in the opposite direction, rough seas ensue from this "wind against tide"
Needless to add that this would be dangerous in a small boat.

I have honestly never met a sheep like Caddy before - in fact I hardly know any other animal like her. She is so calm and composed whatever happens:) and she loves being photographed of course

Because my stay with the ponies was unforeseen - it's due to urgent car repairs - I haven't got my dslr camera or my macbook with me. The iPhone is all I have to take the photos, process and upload. I'm enjoying the challenge

a very rare sight here in Shetland
I didn't get close enough to see which crop it was; the stalks look very thick and coarse.
traditionally, bere was dried like this. not sure whether this is it. not many cereal plants grow here.
