Vines on fences, climbing up trees and anything they can attach themselves to. Beautiful colors, but are very invasive in Florida.

Poinsetta leaf glowing on a cloudy dreary day in Florida.
Shot this at ISO 800 F/18 5 second exposure at a focal length of 47mm.

My 18-55mm IS kit lens with a Canon 500D close-up filter lens.
The camera is my Canon Rebel XS. Love this camera.

I made this one angry. I walked into the web and broke a few strands. This is the first time I've ever seen the legs and body of these spiders. He/she only came out to repair the damage I had caused. Very interesting process.

Family: Acanthaceae, Acanthus view all from this family

Description Trumpet-shaped lavender flowers bloom in paired leaf axils. Stems and leaf edges hairy.
Flowers: 5-lobed; 1 1/2" (4 cm) wide; dark purple spots on lowermost lobe.
Leaves: opposite, oval, attached directly to stems.
Height: 12" (30 cm).

Flower April-October; year-round in s. Florida.

Habitat Pinelands, sandhills.

Range South Carolina south to s. Florida and west to s. Alabama.

Discussion This is a caterpillar food plant for the handsome Buckeye and other native butterflies. A southeastern wildflower, it is often sold in nurseries and is easy to grow and blooms nearly year-round.

This is a Plum Blossom. January 6 2009, my plum tree decided it was Spring once again. The tree will be loaded with blooms very shortly, and most likely before fruit matures we will have a freeze. All the fruit tress are budding. The Naval Orange is the only trees that by their nature don't bloom until February. HBW Everyone!

This big green thing was on a galvanized lid where I keep the bird feed. It was kind of chilly so I had no problem setting up a good pose.
