Kind of an ironic juxtaposition to have this shot right after my violet shot...but, there you go! I find the position of her right hand reminiscent of a DaVinci.

When she warned him she would sweep him off his feet, Charles did not expect that she meant that literally. He also was unaware that her name meant "battle-woman".

I found this photo in Bisbee, Arizona, but the shot is from Dayton, Ohio. I liked the look of her. I get the impression she took no guff from anyone. I hope so.

She was trained as a seemstress.

Reposted this today because I need to see her looking healthy and happy. She is progressing slowly in her recovery. I've spent the night in hospital only to be put off by the nurses from seeing her. I know their work is hard, but some of them are so hard nosed as to be impediments to the emotional recovery of their patients. Culturally, I am compelled to be here through the night. That's just the way we roll. All I asked was to be called when she woke and they didn't even do that. Now I must wait for the shift change to finish and I doubt they'll even call me then. So here I sit, looking at her sweet happy face in this shot, hoping to see her looking energetic and vital again.

I will show this picture to the nurse if I get the chance, to remind them that they are dealing with a person who has character and is worthy of their care and loved by her family.

Age 17 months

On the back is the writing of the woman in the picture. She writes:

"I did not intend to be on this post card but I never got out of range of the camera. Mildred looks awful cross but I waked her up is what makes her look so mad. Mrs. A.R.G."

Its addressed to Mrs. Charles Davis. 1000 E. Washington St., Clinton, Ills. Postmarked March 8, 1900 or 190_, I can't tell the last number.

I think it says Noddin on the back. It definitely says Clifford. I think they look sweet together...a little staid and oh-so-proper. Maybe once the photographer left they had a game of truth or dare, or something. I like their reflection in the table top. Someone pulled out the furniture polish for that one.

A rather blurry shot of two women and their male companion on a gangway. However, the water is nicely in focus, and you can see the big chunks of ice floating around in it. I imagine they have just returned from a tour around a sunny clime and have stopped on the gangway to consider getting back on the ship and heading back south. ;)

The temperature outside today is -14 degrees Celcius, or 7 Fahrenheit. Needless to say, I won't be dipping my toes in any lakes or ponds today, but it was nice to think about that kind of weather...
