Fur Seals, Seal Rock, Hout Bay, South Africa.

Going back to South Africa (well with pictures anyways...), here is another from Seal Rock - Hout Bay's tourist trap. This one gives you a nice glimpse at the amount of Fur Seals condensed into a relatively small space. I love the how the one up front is looking right at me.

Chicken Spring Lake, Golden Trout Wilderness, Ca.

"We need silence to be able to touch souls.” - Mother Teresa.

This image screams silence to me. I backpacked to Chicken Spring Lake last week partly in search of good photography but also in search of silent retreat...I got both!

I remember vividly how silent it was at the lake...not only audibly but also in nature. No wind or weather to shatter the stillness. It was a good spot for meditation - but then you really can't go wrong with that anywhere in the Sierra.

We had a half moon this night that made for a good compliment to the transparent sky and reflection. I felt I had to include it here.

Division Creek Color

Division Creek, Eastern Sierras, Ca.

So I went off to the Eastern Sierras in search of wildlfowers, which are supposed to be peaking at the moment in the lower elevations. After reading and getting suggestions from the rangers I ventured up to Division Creek which is near Independence, Ca.

The creek itself is not much to look at and I must admit I only went up the road about half way fearing that my two wheel drive wouldn't get the job done, so being by myself with no cell service I stopped when the road got a bit too rough and steep. Luckily for me the wildflowers were blooming in force in that area.

Can anyone identify these pink flowers?
