Afternoon everyone, I hope you're all well. It's been a busy first few months to the year for me so far, mainly due to moving house to a new area. As a result photography and flickr has taken something of a back seat for a little while.

I've therefore not really got anything new to post, but thought I would figuratively show my face, so here is a landscape orientation of a shot I originally uploaded in portrait form at the back end of last year.

I'm hoping to start getting out and about with my camera soon and plan to scout out a couple of new locations fairly local to me, so roll on more spare time (and compliant weather!).

I've been a bit busy recently and not had much time for photography in the last 3 months or so, but managed a quick trip up to Blea Tarn this afternoon. It was nice to get out with the camera and also enjoy a bit of sunshine, although a few fluffy clouds would have been appreciated for the snaps!

I can't help feeling I've missed out a bit with the recent cold snowy weather, as I haven't had time to venture out in it with my camera, save for a dog walk and a quick nip up Twistleton Scar a couple of weeks ago. Having a quick look over everyone's offerings on Flickr hasn't help either, it's simply increased my envy!

My first venture out with the camera for over a month yesterday, due to a busy Xmas and New Year, hectic time at work and generally shite weather. I've also been househunting most weekends, so time has been at a premium (it's also my excuse for not commenting much on anyone's images recently).

I've been waiting for a day when Ingleborough had a snow covering on a day I wasn't working for ages, so I headed up to Twistleton Scar; not the easiest of places to navigate around with full camera gear when it's full of snow and ice. A bit disappointed not to have had any cloud to break up the featureless clear blue sky, but I suppose we can't have everything!

Dangers of Photography #137 - Moments after this was taken, I aggravated my sciatica with a heroic lunge to save my tripod and camera from sliding off the frosty jetty, resulting in me spreadeagled, inches from water, but triumphantly holding the camera equipment aloft. It's a risky busines this hobby of ours...

I really need to get myself an external hard disk drive to back up my files. I've got about 5% of space left on my computer and every time a go through my files with the intention of having a purge, I just end up messing around with old shots, either ones I never bothered with at the time or trying to reprocess ones differently. This is a result of one such recent 'purge', from an early start up Latrigg fell back in the summer - a morning when the light started off so promising only to be crushed by a blanket of flat, insipid cloud.

Now before you say it, I know this image is a long way from being technically good - the DoF is wrong, the highlights are blown and the slope of the land gives the impression that the shot is cockeyed. However, for some reason that I can't really explain, I like it. I left posting it as I'll (quite often) initially like a shot I've taken, only to change my mind within a couple of days and thought the same would happen with this one, but it hasn't so here it is.

In case I don't get chance again before the big day, Merry Christmas to you all, thanks to everyone for the kind comments and constructive criticisms over the past year and whilst I'm at it, best wishes and happy shooting (camera-wise that is!) for 2013
