as fate would have it, Cory & i adopted this cute little bundle of fluff today. we went into PetSmart looking for nail clippers for Zoey and as we were there, a couple brought in this estranged little baby that they found in their yard without the rest of the family.

we have been thinking that Zoey wants a playmate cause she seems kinda lonely sometimes. so we decided to bring the little guy home and give it a try. the people at PetSmart didn't even sign any papers that they received the kitten, they just kinda handed him over to us. they think he is maybe 2-3 weeks old. eeeeee

we decided to name him Maximus because had we not gone to TJ Maxx right beforehand (& had the girl not taken a bit long to ring up my stuff), we wouldn't have been at PetSmart when the couple came in. we'll see how it goes & how Zoey responds!.....

i originally thought that only the last seed i planted (#4) sprouted. the seed packet said that the seeds should sprout within 2 weeks, & i waited over a month before planting a new one both times, assuming that the others were a lost cause.

the original seed i've been tracking looked pretty much the same as the last photo up until yesterday, when it opened up a little more. and also... another one sprouted up!

aaaaaand if you look very closely in the foreground, there is a 3rd just breaking the surface as well, which means i now have 3 little guys to track! guess some of them laid dormant in the soil for awhile, waiting for just the right time to make their appearance :)

i wonder if the 4th will decide to come to life?

well, i sadly haven't touched any of my cameras in quite awhile. i'm hoping to change that soon. i also let my Pro account expire which means i need to re-organize all my photos since all my albums are gone. ah well...

anyway... i planted this little spuce seed in a baby planter pot, & it should eventually grow into a miniature Christmas tree in time for December. the kit came with the pot, soil, and 6 seeds. i planted 2 - nothing. planted the third - still nothing. finally planted the fourth seed, and lo & behold, i noticed this little guy peeking through the soil today. i think i'll track his progress as he grows :)

this is from last summer

i had this roll of film in my Lomo from August '08 til last week (5/24/09). whoops! just got around to scanning stuff. everything that got scanned is realllllly dusty-looking (lotsa clone stampage). i'm not quite sure if the dust originates from the film inside the camera, the negs, the scanner... etc. maybe someday i'll figure out how to scan 35mm negs so that they don't look 100 years old. oh well

anyway, more coming from this if/when i get around from it. blah!

this spot overlooks a channel out behind a resort that my family & i used to come to when i was a little girl. the place is a bit more built up now than it used to be, so it felt kind of strange yet interesting to return to it many years later. they've done some nice things to the place but now the lagoon is overrun by kids. ah well!

i have fond memories of camping out at this little spot, turning the chaise lounges around to watch the boats go by, or the myriad fish float lazily down the channel. i recall one specific time when i spotted a giant barracuda that was swimming in the shallow area close to the rocks.

this was the spot where we attempted to launch our inflatable raft that we bought at West Marine. i think it was actually made for 1 adult or 2 people smaller than ourselves. we realized this shortly after we pushed off.... at which point we also noticed the extremely strong current that was very quickly determined to sweep us right under the overpass - just out of view here (would be about 90 degrees to the right) - and over to the other side of the bridge, despite our paddling efforts. so much for reaching the sand bar....
