The Church was built as a memorial to Mary, daughter of Joseph and Eleanor Hirst. Mary had died in childbirth in 1859 and the foundation stone was laid in 1862 by her mother.

The church at Laughton was the main church to a large area, an indication of the village's importance in Anglo-Saxon times. The Saxon church was a simple rectangular structure. Rebuilding in Norman style began c1190 when a north aisle was added. The church was rebuilt again c1377 and a 185ft tower and spire were added. The north arcade of the nave retains its Norman columns while Saxon stonework can be seen in the lower courses of the chancel walls. The Lady Chapel contains a pre-reformation stone altar table which was found buried in the south aisle during the 19th century. Considerable alterations and repairs to the church were carried out in 1857 at the expense of AFB St Leger, the lord of the manor.

All Saints Church, Church Street Wath Upon Dearne Yorkshire

Parts of this church were built in 1150, sections have been knocked down and rebuilt in the 1100's and 1200's. Roger de Pocklington was rector 1280 to 1322. The top storey of the tower and spire were added sometime between 1350 and 1410. There were bells in existence sometime during the sixteenth century. The oldest was the tenor bell, first cast in 1583. The large font was given in 1874 in memory of William Cadman.

The church tower had a clock as early as 1714, with a fourteen foot pendulum. The ornaments in the church were believed to have been plundered in the Civil War and most of the present ornaments were given in the 18th century, and some in 1909.The church was fully restored in 1868 when plaster and lime were removed from the inside walls, and the walls were re-pointed.

On 16th August, 1917, there was a fire which gutted the vestry, destroyed most of the chancel roof and organ and burned the altar rail.

The cost of restoration was £7000, including the addition of an organ chamber.

One of two old chests has ironwork and chain handles, and a bell of Armada year stands under the tower. The living(worth £315 p.a. in 1831) is a discharged vicarage in the gift of the dean and chapter of Christ Church, Oxford who hold the tithes by a grant from Henry VIII.
One vicar, the Rev. Henry Partington held this post for 64 years during the 19th century.

Standing almost 310 metres (1,020 ft) tall, it has been the tallest building in Europe and the European Union since December 2011. It is also the second-tallest free-standing structure in the United Kingdom, after the 330-metre (1,083 ft) concrete tower at the Emley Moor transmitting station.

Shard London Bridge replaced Southwark Towers, a 24-storey office building constructed on the site in 1976. Renzo Piano, the building's architect, worked with the architectural firm Broadway Malyan during the planning stage. The tower will have 72 habitable floors, with a viewing gallery and open-air observation deck – the UK's highest – on the 72nd floor. It has been designed with an irregular triangular shape from the base to the top, and will be clad entirely in glass. Shard London Bridge's structure was completed in April 2012, and it is expected to open to the public on 5 July 2012.

South Porch All Saints Church, Church Street Wath Upon Dearne Yorkshire

The Eendracht on the right is a three masted schooner from the Netherlands, built in 1989 at shipyard Damen, designed by W. de Vries Lentsch.
She is owned by Stichting het Zeilend Zeeschip and used to give young people an introduction to the sea and sailing.
The sailing ship Europa on the left is a steel-hulled barque from the Netherlands, originally built in 1911, as a lightship at the H.C. Stülcken & Sohn shipyard in Hamburg, Germany. Its original name was Senator Brockes. Until 1977, it was in use by the German Federal Coast Guard as a lightship on the river Elbe. In 1985 a Dutchman bought the vessel (or what was left of it), and in 1994 she was fully restored as a barque, a three mast rigged ship, and retrofitted as a special-purpose sail-training ship.
