Back when living in Chicago and Cook County as a kid was easy living and carefree. No long drives and it didn't cost our parsents an arm-leg to take the whole family for a goodtime.

This locomotive was built in Aurora IL.in 1909 as #1482 and rebuilt to shop switcher #308 in 1931.

4000 S-4-A was rebuilt from 3002 in 1937. With increased operation of streamlined trains The "Q"convert one of rebuilt hudson the 4000 into a streamlined shroud and name the engine after a Greek God Aeolus keeper of the winds. Today 4000 on display @ LaCross Wis.

The big M-4-A 2-10-4 #6319 was on display for the railfans from Chicago to Galesburg fantrip April 4.1959

This big M-4-A was the last of the Scraped CB&Q locomotives, and the last of it's type because the Northwestern Steel& Wire Mill kept it around for a stationary boiler well into 1963.

5623 O5-a was on display for the railfans in Galesburg ILL.

5608 thru 5635 were home made at the West Burlington Shop in Iowa 1936-40.Brought out of storage for a brief time in 1956-57 motive shortage.5623 was scraped @ NorthWestern Steel&Wire 1961 Sterling ILL.
