is retiring! She is going to live with my boss, Kathy, at the Animal Ark. Kathy is a hedgie fanatic and is thrilled to be adopting her first one! Magpie will be retiring in the lap of hedgie luxury (I've already seen all the things Kathy has bought for her already!).

My grandma and my cousin's youngest son, Weston. Four generations.

I've been too busy to actually put a lot of effort into photography lately. What you've been seeing are just random, everyday shots that I get of my dogs do their random, everyday things.

So, this week I'm going to try to actually plan a theme for photos.

Also, I got my first real job today. Up until now, my main source of income was photography and dog training. Now, I'm a paid groomer at Kathy's Animal Ark. Today I shaved, bathed, dried, and clipped a bunch of dogs. Smelled like wet dog when I got home but I enjoy doing it. Plus I start at $8.50 an hour which isn't bad.

We're the only people that drive 14 1/2 hours to adopt a deaf dog. I'd almost say that we're insane.
Anyway, meet Keizer (called "Bryan" in the shelter) whom we've added to the family from a kill shelter in Topeka. I'm so tired. Haha more later.

Also, Mercedes is here from Willow Creek Photography! She came with to get him. :)

Legend at his first show, handled by myself. My mom once again took this photo. The handlers and dogs in front of us were going so slow so I couldn't get that longer stride with Legend that you should see with a German shepherd in the ring. The moment is also a little awkward, the way the he's stepping. His ears are also back so if you didn't know better you might not even know that this is Legend! It makes him look quite a bit different, even to me as I rarely see his ears go back. Oh well! I still love this.

(My mom took this photo and I got a little frustrated with editing, so just bear with me on this shot haha).

Legend took first in his class at his first show last Sunday! Would have loved to take the win for group too, but a four-year-old GSD took it (glad for them though, it was a beautiful dog!). Legend showed just beautifully and stacked himself the majority of the time. The judge was impressed since he's still just a puppy. Anyway, so proud of my boy!

Kiara also competed, but in obedience. She did class D Novice, where half is performed off-leash and the other half on-leash. At one point with the off-leash heeling, she left the ring for half a second on the about turn and was then taken down a place for it. So she ended up with third, but out of about ten other dogs that she competed against I'm happy with that. (:

Oh I just love this boy. I can't wait to show him for the first time next week, we've trained hard for it and he's such a natural. :)) He's currently just under 14 months old.

P.S. He's getting neutered soon, I swear! I think I mentioned this before but he had an appointment to get it done last month but tested positive for lymes so they wouldn't do it. Just last week, after four weeks of treatment, he tested negative (as did all of our dogs)! :) So now we can reschedule.

P.P.S. His first showmanship match is this coming week. Go team Legend!
