Arguably one of the earth's most endangered ecosystems on earth. This is the Pass A Loutre area, heading towards the open Gulf of Mexico. This area was adversely effected by the oil spill.

Miles and miles of coastal wetlands in southern Louisiana stretch off into the horizon. These areas should be labeled as endangered habitat, as they are slowly sinking and eroding into the Gulf of Mexico.

Using purse seines tended by numerous small boats, these large anchovy boats lined up just off the shoreline as they set nets on large 'bait balls' of anchovy off the coast of Chincha Baja, Peru.

As more and more structures are built along our beaches, we run the risk of not leaving enough vital nesting habitat for sea turtles like this Kemps ridley, nesting on a dune on Galveston's East Beach.

A sandhill crane stretches its wings while disinterested flock-mates pluck dinner from a West End field on Galveston Island. The island serves as a wintering ground for many sandhill cranes. As more and more island natural spaces face encroachment by developers, there exists the real possibility of winters without these tall beauties, something that would be a terrible loss.
