The other day I drove out about an hour and a half away to pigeon point. I've been obsessed with lighthouses since my trip to Maine. It was dark and gloomy in SF but I decided to make the drive out anyway with the hope of catching the sunset hitting the clouds. My hope was to get dramatic clouds with the lighthouse in the foreground. Instead, when I got there, the sun was giving way to dark and stormy rain clouds.

While it was not what I'd envisioned, I loved how this image came out. It certainly captured the feeling of that moment.

This is the entry-way to my house. LOL, j/k! I wish!

Anyway, I have had ZERO time to go out and take pictures since I've been traveling like a maniac. I went up to wine country yesterday to pick up some wine at a winery that we're members of and took my camera up with me. I have the hardest time taking landscape shots in wine country. they just don't come out right, or seem really uninteresting. I've been looking for large sweeping landscape shots and just can't seem to find the right location or timing to do them in Napa.

Though not what I was looking for, I spotted this location on my way back home disappointed that yet again, I haven't been able to capture what I've had in my mind for a few months.

Happy birthday to me. =)

This is my first post in 2010. I'm not sure why I decided to post such a dark, gloomy, and stormy image for my first picture (and for my birthday, at that). I just like what a lighthouse represents, I guess... in a way. I also like the significance of the lighthouse sitting on the edge of the world... in front of the open sea. Recently, I've been struggling to find my niche and unique style in photography. Maybe the open sea in this image is a metaphor. There are so many possibilities in terms of where I could take my photography. Moreover, the light from the lighthouse remains unobstructed, will travel far and see many things over it's life span. Perhaps I will do the same with my photography.

It was super stormy when I took this, standing in the freezing rain. I think the temperature was below 20F and I couldn't feel my hands. The waters were raging because it was so windy. I had to hold my tripod down to add some weight to it.

I like the finished product.
