I've been away from photography for a long time since our little girl was born about 5 months ago. While parenthood has been an unreal experience, one that I wouldn't change for anything in the world, I do occasionally miss having free time to go out and do whatever I want.

Now that my wife and I are sort of getting the hang of things (and have had lots of help) I'm beginning to get the itch to pick up my camera gear and head outdoors to make photos again (not so say that my camera is not getting good use - our little girl will be the most documented girl in history. ;)) I've decided that I have to make time, no matter what, to do a lot of the things I used to do.

Hopefully this post is one of many more to come soon.

Hi everyone! I've been away for a while ever since our first baby girl was born about three weeks ago. She arrived three weeks early, just to make things interesting for mom and dad. :) It's been so surreal so far, and despite all the sleepless nights and diaper changes, I wouldn't have it any other way. She's a bundle of immense joy and has brought new perspective into my life.

I took this image a while ago but never had the chance to post it. I've been missing photography a lot, so I was looking through some of my pre-baby photos. Recently, as you can imagine, all I've been doing is taking pictures of our little monkey. I'll be back soon to making other kinds of photos soon.

After about a year-long hiatus I finally got back to doing fashion photography. We had a great team assembled this weekend for this shoot. Everyone from the make up artist to the wardrobe stylist did an excellent job in managing to shoot 3 different looks in less than 3 hours of total shoot time.

There's actually very little post processing on this. I had great light to work with and was able to achieve a lot of the tones and colors you see here.

Sharing one more, one last one, from my trip to Shanghai. Again, this was from the excursion to Zhouzhuang, the ancient water village.

Can someone please tell me what the sign(s) on the door says?

This is the ancient town of Zhouzhuang, a historic water village built during the Ming Dynasty. The town is also known as China's Venice (losely speaking). It was also where they filmed a scene from Mission Impossible 3. These buildings that you see were formerly people's homes. Over time, as the town has become increasingly more touristy, the homes have become tiny souvenir shops.

The river that you see the reflection on is fairly dirty. Most of these homes had steps leading right into the water where people would wash their clothes, etc. Perhaps it was cleaner back then, but certainly not now.

The whole town felt like it was like from a fantasy story or almost animation-like. it's quite surreal.

My first ever pregnancy shoot.

This is my wife, Jessica, who is due in just a couple of months with our first child. She's 32 weeks now and we're both SUPER excited for the arrival of the newest member of our family next month.

Being a photographer, I, of course, had to take the opportunity to do a pregnancy shoot. This is my first shoot of this kind, so I'll certainly welcome critiques and/or comments. I'll likely only post just a couple of my favorites from this particular shoot since we have a series of shoots planned over the next couple of weeks. stay tuned... and thanks in advance for the critiques and comments!

Steel city

This was taken from the Bund, across the Huangpu river. It is a beautiful part of town which almost looks like a city in France (the part I'm standing in, not the view). The Bund was colonized a while ago by the Europeans, which is why all the architecture looks European.

The view here is of the famous Shanghai skyline of the Pudong (the streaks you see to the right are the lights from a cruise ship passing by). The tower is a television tower. Most of the buildings are relatively new, from what I understand. The dark tower in the back rising above the cloud line is the stock exchange.

It is staggering how much Shanghai has developed in just a few years. I've never ever seen such rapid development happen anywhere before. Say what you may want to say about China (civil rights issues, communism, etc), but it is clearly where the future is. They're doing so many things right and leaving other countries well behind. They have strong leadership and a devoted people that take a lot of pride in their country and are willing to do anything for it. They are hard workers and are really an example to the world.

On a separate note, I'm back from my tiring, hectic travels over the last two months which took me to Europe (Portugal, Spain, UKx2), Asia (China), and all over the US. It's been busy.
