Buy a plant and support the Canadian Botanical Association conference at TRU

Buy a plant and help offset some of the costs of holding the Canadian Botanical Association's 49th annual national conference at TRU, June 1-5, 2013.

The plants were grown by TRU students, Biological Sciences faculty members, and members of the Friends of the Garden Society.

HOW TO VIEW & BUY PLANTS
Contact Cindy Ross Friedman at cross@tru.ca or by phone at 250-828-5424 (extension 5424) to arrange a viewing.

WHAT'S AVAILABLE
Perennials, succulents, native plants, and tropicals are available, with prices ranging from $2 to $10, depending on size. Plants range from those needing full shade to those needing full sun. Zones range from 3 to 5.

Participants being sought to journey the Fraser River

From Aug. 1 to 25, participants in the Rivershed Society of BC's Sustainable Living Leadership Program will journey by raft, canoe, van and on foot from the Fraser River's headwaters near Valemount, B.C., to where it meets the shores of Vancouver, 1,400 kilometres downstream.

TRU alumni Leif Douglass participated in a previous journey and the homework component of the trek led him to creating a campaign to reduce the sale of plastic bottles on campus. That action then led to a review and the results are expected to be released sometime in 2013.

Trash Bash 2013 is scheduled for May 30

Join in the fun of TRU Trash Bash 2013 by spending as little as 15 minutes picking up garbage around campus on May 30, 2013.

Free gloves, garbage bags, and pick-up-sticks for collecting garbage will be provided.

Meet outside the front of Brown Family House of Learning at 9am to pick up your equipment—rain or shine.

BDC E-Spirit Competition coming to TRU

The 13th edition of the Business Development Bank of Canada E-Spirit business plan competition will be staged at TRU, May 14-16, 2013.

The event is for Aboriginal high school students from grades 10 through 12 and will feature 35 qualifying teams from 17 different schools from across Canada.
