My first chance to use my new EF-S 55-250 lens. I have adjusted the contrast and added a bit of colour saturation as it was so dismal out today. But as this was taken at 250mm, aperture wide-open and 1/15th on ISO 800, hand-held too, you could imagine that I am quite happy with this lens. Very pleased indeed

Another of Sunday morning's shots but taken early before the sun came through (8:40am not 9:40 as the exif says). Softer, yes, but a better image in my opinion.

This morning I spent 5 hours sitting in a chair hide waiting to get these shots. The first 20 minutes while it was still dark were the busiest for the birds. Through the gloom I watched 3 of these and 1 of them walked within 10 feet of me as it strolled past. If I had pointed the hide in the opposite direction I may have got some of the best photos I had ever taken as this bird was silhouetted against the light of the early morning sun streaming through the trees and the mist. I am glad that I was there to see it, wouldn't have missed it for the world!

I have combined 2 shots with slightly different focus points to hold more detail, stacked using CombineZP so that I have slightly greater DOF. I had already taken a few shots then moved the orange leaf in the background when I noticed it was 'glowing'. It just struck me that the fungi appeared to be reaching up to the sky
