Shipwrecked Circumstances

Photo 4 for Stories Worth Telling. Shooting at this location was such a blast! I felt like I was entering a fiction novel, like the Boxcar Kids books I read when I was a kid. This took place on my roadtrip to California back in December, and it was an honor to shoot alongside my talented friends Jennifer Ilene, Peter Jamus, Sarah Loreth and Shane Black! A huge thank you to these brave little models- it was cold and getting dark when we shot this! I'll be sharing another really cool shot or two from this location!

Escaping at Midnight

As she lay in the cave shuddering, fearing for her life, she knew she could not linger there forever. Whether by encroaching cold or a brimming fever, only a day or two more could remain. Only fleeing from this place by the cover of night could she hope to escape the ever-looming danger that sought to destroy her. Only by clinging to a thread of hope that dangled as if from the edge of a cliff, could she hope to reach the forest-edge alive. Only hope.

This shot is from my awesome adventure across the country to meet up in Vancouver! The model is the ever-talented and wonderful Whitney, who’s photos you must go check out! As we walked along a forest trail, seeing many beautiful spots like this one, my mind was racing with stories to tell! Shot on the same day as this photo and this photo! Isn’t Vancouver amazing?

All the Forest Monsters

This is another shot of our host in Vancouver, the incredible Lizzy Gadd ! She and her beautiful family took us to all sorts of amazing locations, many of which will surface photographs over the next weeks! Please check out her work, she is so insanely talented and inspiring! This was shot in the beautiful mossy forests of British Columbia. I took multiple shots to expand this portrait and then took multiple shots of branches coming at the camera that I then worked into the scene, giving it an even more ominous feeling. The arching branches in the back inspired this eerie concept, reminding me of monster arms!

If only we could walk through fields and gather daydreams every day and not just some days…

I love when I am able to come up with concepts on the spot… although this took me a while to think of the other day, I love how it turned out! I also tried some new techniques editing, so let me know what you think! The model is the marvelous and beautiful Sola Muno, and this shot is dedicated to my amazing friend and photographer Rachel Jones. I hope she gathers lots of dreams even as she moves away to big ole Chicago! Check her out and look for her shots from this collaboration! Lucy and Sura

I think this might be my absolute favorite shot from my circus set! Not just because of my new bud Sura the Zebra but because of how much this meant to the little girl, the Zebra’s owner, and yeah- that I got to meet a Zebra. Its safe to say that I am now friends with Sura’s owner and we will become better friends over the summer- I couldn’t be happier to meet such a nice person AND a Zebra. Sura was so great to work with and I am glad I can be a part of helping him recover from a not as pleasant past :D This shoot was done for a current series at my church ( Check out the video here- click the “Family Circus” banner! ) Video was done by Blake Powell. What secrets do the dark nights hold… in streets filled with rain and houses of old.

Sometimes you just have to experiment! Chyea for going out at 2am in the freezing cold covered in white paint in the semi-hood! I am sure I was deemed crazy by some innocent bystander once more. I am determined to catch up on this 52 week project, only 8 more photos to go! Hope you’re having a wonderful almost Christmas week! I am going crazy planning for a bunch of shoots and hopeful opportunities!

So this was a fun shoot with Shanna, she is SUCH a great model and friend, and you may remember her from this beautiful shot back in December! I have been wanting to do this for so long, and am happy with how it turned out here. This is another nightmare for my Bedtime Stories Series! Don't let the wild winds of this world rip you apart...! So much scurrying as mother Christmas draws near, people scurry here and there as she waits to appear!

Sooo this one is much cheerier than the last, so lets boost some morale here! Yeah... and we totally picked the day that it was 5 degrees with -9 wind chill to shoot :( Hehe well I have so much thanking to do right now because so many people have helped me out or done something nice in the past couple days!

First I would like to thank Michael and Alex SO SO much for the pro account purchases! I am stunned by the kindness you have shown, so THANKS a million- now I’ll be set for 2 years! Also, thank you so much to Emily for the incredible words she wrote in a testimonial for me… I was blown away by that kindness as well!

And last, I was so excited to get prints in the mail, I really need to get my photo wall done now- so Marisa and Rachel- THANKS!!! You guys rule

If there is anything else I could say, it is that I love you guys! Keep being incredible, this world will certainly become a better place!!!

Searching For The Light

Wow! What an adventurous weekend it has been… Found this awesome place in Canada named Kettle Point, now one of the most beautiful places I’ve been to, the sunset was like heaven… it looks like a golden wheat field ending in the infinity of Lake Huron: Photos to come soon! (I love living surrounded by the Great Lakes)

This is from my most awesome shoot ever in the D, Margo found this sweet vintage dress and there are still a couple to come scattered throughout this week… I was so busy this last week that I didn’t get to edit much, but I finally got some time this evening, hope you like this first one :)

Anddd finally I get to visit your streams… hehe I have kind of been phantom stalking streams here and there but havn’t had time to comment, so watch out because in the next 24 here I come!
