There’s a woman I can see out of my window when sat at my desk in Nottingham, and it seems she’s forever doing washing, each day she will appear with a new batch which shell hang out, only to bring back in a few hours later…well lets just say I could probably recognize the family by their clothes If I was to bump in to them now. In all honesty though, there’s something about this whole back and forth that really upset me, its scary the way most of us manage to go through life so complacently, never really noticing what is around us, falling victim to the comfort of our routines. With my images I wanted to take everyday objects that most people never really pay much attention to and change the way we perceive them, and if only for a moment (a very split second) let them transform in to something other than we expect them to be, before our sensibilities take over and we place the objects.

I wasn't planning on uploading this really (so the chances are it won't stay up for long, especially as i edited it on picasa as photoshop hates me! -anyone that can sort that out give me a bell) , but I have some happy news so though, what the heck! SOOOOO it turns out I passed my first year at Uni with a 1:1 all the tears and endless hours of brain aching, and essay writing while the rest of the world played in the sun were worth it!

The Triumph of Hellenism

It was a busy year for death
She crept about the palace.
And we had poor defence
And she had little malice
A gentle touch put here -
A sad and curt embrace.
A wooden kiss enough
To put them in their place.
And where my father went
Is not now common knowledge;
The inventory was lent
To some old Cambridge college.
I had little faith then,
Nothing spoke to me.
When what you see is Gospel,
The Gospel isn’t free.
And Krishna’s conch is sunk,
The lotus not in bloom,
Solomon’s song unsung
And prayers are called too soon.
So where my father went
Is wind against the Mountain
His love was all but spent
So mine is as a fountain.

All the fruit turn red,
Some of them are still green
But never will you see one
That’s stuck and in between.
As all came from a garden
Where the wind has died down low
And there my father went
To help the green fruit grow.
He tends them with a smile,
His fingers stroke the leaves.
He’ll never leave the garden,
It’s all that I believe.
