Bei meinem Besuch in Köln Anfang April 2012 zeigten mir meine flickr-Freunde schreibtnix on 'n off unddolorix die Stadt. Es war ein intensives und sehr gutes Erlebnis, für das ich sehr dankbar bin. Diese Treppe an der Aussenseite des Kunstmuseums Kolumba zeigte mir dolorix. Danke, liebe Doris.
During my visit to Cologne early April 2012 my flickr friends schreibtnix on 'n off and dolorix showed me the city. It was an intense and very good experience for me and I´m very grateful. The staircase on the outside of the art museum Kolumba showed me dolorix . Thank you so much, dear Doris.

Das Schottenportal zählt zu den bedeutendsten romanischen Baudenkmälern Deutschlands. Auf kunstvoll gestalteten Rundbögen schmücken meisterhafte Figurenplastiken und Ornamente den Eingangsbereich der ehemaligen Benediktinerklosterkirche aus dem 12. Jahrhundert (Bauzeit 1185 bis 1189 n. Chr). Über die Bedeutung der rätselhaften Bilderzyklen am Portal gibt es viele Deutungen, von denen jedoch keine als gesichert angesehen werden kann. Sicher kann nur gesagt werden, dass der Zyklus Weltgericht, Himmel und Hölle thematisiert.

Portal of the Scots Church St. Jacob in Regensburg, Bavaria

The Scots Portal is one of the most important Romanesque architecture in Germany. On elaborately decorated arches masterful figure sculptures and ornaments decorate the entrance of the former Benedictine abbey church of the 12th Century. About the significance of the mysterious series of pictures on the portal, there are many interpretations of which may not be regarded as assured. The only certainty is that the cycle deals with Judgement, heaven and hell.
