Fire Hydrant is what popped out when I was riding my bike around asking the Lord to help me find an F word to take a photo of. My list failed me today. I wasn't going to Furano. My flat futon would require me to pull the sheets off my bed and I was out of ideas.

Expired Eggs

Expired eggs are in my fridge. Seriously.

I bought these eggs knowing that I probably wouldn't be able to finish them all. On top of that I had the Japanese date system mixed up and so I thought half of my fridge was going to expire on the ninth. It was only as I was sitting down to lunch with my students wondering why they were serving expired milk, (Japan is super strict on expiration dates) that I realized that it actually goes YY.MM.DD. Since I didn't realize this until afterward, I tried extra hard to fit all that food in over that week (yogurt for two meals, etc.).

Why do I have expired eggs in my fridge, you ask? Well, when my friend and I decided to do this, it was this day. I had been brainstorming and thought expired . . . then, of course, eggs were what naturally came next.

PS. Only the two with the blue tags are expired. The rest were purchased this weekend.

Chopsticks are what I use to eat almost every meal.

I guess it's a little obvious for Japan, but I like chopsticks. This set is also my favorite. They're shorter, perfect for my small hands. With the red ends and tiny flowers, they're super cheerful. To top that all off, they have a box!

Badminton

Badminton is a favorite game among Japanese kids. Everytime I'm at this particular school, it's the first game to come out (although this is only the second visit). Also, there's a club at the high school.

Abandoned are many of the buildings in this area of Japan.

Apparently due to the shrinking population in Japan.

I also wanted to choose this word because it makes me think of this song:
"I have not been abandoned, no I have not been deserted and I have not been forgotten" (I Need You by Relient K).
I wanted to share this, because there have been times recently where I've had to wonder and every time the Lord reminds me that he is with me.

Gift is what was in my desk, because one of my fellow teachers brought them back for the entire office after a recent trip. Do I get extra points for the Green background? :)

Most people in Japan do not have dryers.

This photo was a really good incentive to fold this weekend's laundry. :)
