Alright, I think Swiss Army Knives are good and all but there are some of them available that are really a bit too large. This one wasn't surely possible to buy at all. The sheer amount of stuff to get out of it is interesting but if I tell you that the main part in the middle was as big as my hand alone you get an idea of the measurements. This thing was huge.

NIPSA

Sebastian Niedlich (Grabthar) posted a photo:

Sooner or later it had to happen... it seems like my pictures are NIPSA'd. At least my photoshop work.
NIPSA is the abbreviation for "Not in Public Site Areas" which basically means that these pictures don't show up in searches. So, if you would search for my current most interesting pic Anthony Hopkins' Dog you wouldn't actually find it. The picture above won't show up too.

I have to say I am a bit bummed about that. I kinda wondered why my images weren't viewed as much lately and then I found out why via Gale Franey, whose pictures don't show up either. (If you search for Gale Franey you will see pictures she made and other people uploaded but you won't actually see pictures from her stream.)

Several people are very vocal with their opinions in this forum thread as well as this forum thread.

Here my 2 cents:
The guidelines and the FAQ pretty much sum up what Flickr thinks and wants. To basically sum it up: Everything that is not a photo isn't wanted. Period. Fine.
I have to say that I wasn't really aware of this until yesterday. That's not the fault of Flickr. It's my fault. I just uploaded my photoshop stuff thinking it is okay because there are enough photoshop, art and whatever groups on Flickr where I always thought: Okay, if that's here then it's probably okay. Obviously it isn't.

I understand that Flickr is intended primarily as a photo site. The guidelines say so and there's no discussion about it. But strangely enough it hasn't been enforced earlier and nobody seems to have gotten a mail from the Flickr people telling them "Hey, your images won't show up anymore."
Wouldn't it have been better to shut down every art and photoshop group from the beginning? The way it is now it seems like they're telling "See, you can upload your stuff and pay for your account but we will pretty much make sure that nobody will see your work." Of course everybody can be active in the photoshop groups but I for one like to search for different things, order them by interestingness and look at those pictures. And I WANT to see photoshopped work too. (Emphasis on the "too".) I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

If you search for "photoshop" now you will find stuff, sure. But you won't find stuff from the POPULAR photoshoppers because they have been NIPSA'd. You won't find them because they did good work and people actually wanted to see them and they got NIPSA'd for it. I am "honored" to be in that group as well.

Again, if Flickr goes along with this it's absolutely their right. I guess my point is that I think that Flickr is becoming less of a cool place because of that. And I don't say that because I got NIPSA'd, I say that because I can't find the good people anymore. Now and then you would find something cool in a search or on explore that isn't really "just a photo". Not anymore, and that's a pity.

Done for a Mechapixel contest where a pic of Barry Manilow with his recently won Emmy had to be photoshopped.
