"Torres del Paine National Park (Parque Nacional Torres del Paine) is a national park encompassing mountains, a glacier, a lake, and river-rich areas in southern Chilean Patagonia. The Cordillera del Paine is the centerpiece of the park. It lies in a transition area between the Magellanic subpolar forests and the Patagonian Steppes. Trekking W is an amazing trekking of 5 days in Torres del Paine National Park. It allows to see in only 5 days a great variety of different landscapes and breathtaking views. An enormous variety of animals also live in the park and it will be very easy to see any kind of birds (including Andean Condor), guanacos, foxes.
Day 1 of the trekking has been a walk of only 3 few hours till a first refuge where passing the night. During the first day a first view of the famous Cuernos del Paine has been the source of the first "ooh!" of the trekking.
Day 2 (6 hours) main spot has been instead the arrival on Torres del Paine lookout, a lagoon just under gigantic granite monoliths dominating the view. This was one of the main target of the whole 5 days trekking and a first perfect place to remember. We also arrived once the group of people arrived there for the sunrise was leaving (to me, without my - too heavy - tripod there was no reason to be there at sunrise) and much before the group of people that preferred to sleep would arrived. Beside the great place and the good light, we also enjoyed the place without the bunch of tourists that arrived when we left.
Only regret...a wide lens it's mandatory in this trekking; for weight reason I decided to bring with me just my 35mm and my 85mm, but my Tokina 11-16 would have been probably much more useful.
In the example above, I would have liked to include also the lagoon, but the focal length was too long for this :-(
Not a great set this one, but I would like to post a photo for each day of the Trekking W as description for who would like to do it one day in the future.
