I finally got the chance to shoot with Lauren after following her work for about three years. She’s one of the best models I’ve shot, really gorgeous and fun to work with. I’m hoping to make an LA trip early next year and hopefully we will kill it again.

I’m starting to meet more models through places like Facebook and Instagram, and Bre is one of those. We have a mutual model friend, and when I saw one of Bre’s images pop up on my Facebook news feed I messaged her right away. She has such a great face and she’s very comfortable in front of the camera.

We shot some Polaroids and I should have some of those ready to post in a week or two. But I saw this digital shot when I was downloading images from my card and I couldn’t wait to mess around with it. I’m very happy with the results.

I shot this story with Nettie last year on film from the Impossible Project (PZ 680). She is pretty amazing to work with, creative and not afraid to get dirty, literally.

I was very glad to get the chance to work with Tiffiney. She's a model from out East but she travels quite a bit. She's lovely and great in front of the camera. I expected us to work well together and I think we really did.

This was shot on the Impossible Project's PZ 680 film. I really love the soft colors, it's very pretty.

I was looking through the digital images from my last shoot with Jennifer and it reminded me of some from our previous shoot. If you follow my work you might remember a shoot I did with her and Echo together. I shot some images of Jennifer alone for a bit after that. It was October and the light was lovely.

She's an extraordinary model.

My second shoot with Avarie in about a month was a blast. The first shoot I had a lot of very specific ideas, we shot for my Polaroid book and a story for Fixation Magazine. This time we had almost no agenda, we just hung out and made some pretty pictures. I was very confident we’d get some nice images, she’s a great fit for my work. And I love her face.

We ended up busting out some of her wardrobe that was a bit more colorful than things I usually shoot. I’ve been noticing that the colors are very pretty with this film, and wanting to take advantage of it more. Also we had very nice light that day. I think a lot of times when I’ve shot this film it’s been a little too dark. I liked the earlier results, but the tones on the shots we got are so pretty.

I’d been wanting to work with Justine for quite a while, and she finally came to visit last weekend. We shot a ridiculous amount of lovely photos. A one point we shot an editorial with one pack of Polaroid film, which I’m still in shock about.

She’s a fantastic model and a really awesome person. One of the great perks of making my art is meeting people like her.

Polaroid from the shoot with Bex. I really love this image. I've shot a lot of this Softtone film and had some weird things happen, but this is maybe the best. Sometimes with expired film sections of it don't develop, that's what's going on here. But the way it fit so well with the pose was totally unexpected. Even more, I'd actually asked Bex to try this specific pose, something that I don't do very often.

The unpredictable results that come from working with things like expired film and toy cameras is something I really love. As much as people try to emulate the look of film in their digital images, it's these happy accidents that you just can't duplicate with a Photoshop action or a Lightroom preset.
