Apparently this man is one of the LAST of the craftsmen who make the traditional shoes that are associated with the practice of foot binding. The shoes are now purely a tourist / historical item however I noted that the young Chinese women who were our companions on the tour were not impressed...

We had to pass this way to pick up some people to join us on our tour of Malaka.

In the new FLICKR I love the way you can double click on an image and up comes a neat viewer ... great way to see a series of pics at their best ;-))
