Is getting Very late now - Bill and I went out to the hill between Pakiri and Leigh toinght. Here is a VERY quick and dirty post result of what we were getting.

Beautiful dark and clear night, went down to the inlet and shot some 3200 ISO stuff. Pretty eventful really - not only did I catch some stunning views of the southern sky, I dropped my camera :( Luckily my UV filter caught the brunt of the blow and camera and 18-55 seem to be fine.

This was all shot before the moon appeared of course. Been through somereasonably heavy post - colour, contrast and , of course, noise reduction.

I think I am startign to reach the limit of what the 20D can do, sensor-wise. 5D for me next, once I can save the money!

So this is the first of the "real" Martins bay shots :) I had a good night, should really be sleeping (work tomorrow) but what the hey .. and I believe that's the SMC in there in the middle :) The bright lights are Whangaparoa as best as myself and Google maps can work out.

Second Shot, just right of the first :) I honestly had about an hour of clear skies, then it came down in buckets!
