Strobist: Elinchrom Quadra in a Westcott Apollo 28" softbox overhead and slightly to camera right. An SB900 in a Photek Softlighter boomed above and behind for hair and shoulder light. Another SB900, gridded and standing right behind Donna for background light. Trigrip diffuser below for some fill. Flashes fired with Pocket Wizards TT1 and TT5.

Strobist: One SB900 bounced off the wall camera right. Two more SB900 with WAD aimed into the scene from camera right. Another SB900 with WAS handheld from camera position for the table and sofa in the foreground. Finally, an SB900 on a Justin clamp at the base of the parasol, pointing up. Flashes fired with Pocket Wizards TT5 and TT1.

Paco is a friend of a friend of my wife, and upon meeting him I immediately proposed a portrait session. It was his first photo shoot, but he was nonetheless very confident in front if the lens. It only took me a few frames to nail each shot. We shot these images at the stable that he runs together with his brother.

Strobist: Two SB900 with 1/4 CTO in a gridded Westcott Apollo 28" softbox camera left, and a bare SB900 in the back, at camera left, pointing across toward the right to light the background. Flashes fired with Pocket Wizards TT5 and TT1.

Model and Mua: Ainara Almenara Fernandez

I've had variants of this shot roaming in my head for quite some time, and it wasn't until recently, when I came upon the right model and location that I decided to execute the idea of a series of images of a mommy.

Strobist: One SB900 and an LP160 with green gels on the floor in the back of the tunnel, aimed up and towards the sides. Two SB900 with green gels on either side of Ainara, behind her. One SB900 with a Honl grid boomed above her to light her face and upper torso. Below her, there is a silver reflector into which Albert is bouncing light from a hand held SB900 with a green gel on it. All flashes are fired with Pocket Wizards, except the LP160, which fires off its optical slave. The smoke is baby powder.

Pedro plays for Marbella Rugby Club, and has been selected to play with the Spanish National Rugby team at A-level.

Strobist: Shot at four in the afternoon at tungsten white balance. Elinchrom Quadra with CTO camera right. In the back, six bare speedlights in two groups of six, left and right respectively, all at 1/2 power and with CTOs (I didn't know I had so many CTO gels). All flashes fired with Pocket Wizards TT1 and TT5.
