Yao (or Mien) kid - Laos

This kid is from Yao (also known as Mien) tribe in north Laos. This tribe can also be seen in Thailand.
During pregnancy, the mother beleives that the soul of the fœtus is not inside her belly. The fist month, she believes the soul is in front of the house entrance, then in the second month, inside the stove etc… Whe the baby is born, a bamboo sign at the entrance of the house tells the strangers not to come inside. After delivering, the mother must not eat vegatbles for two weeks. She cannot enter other houses for 30 days. If the baby is too often ill, the shaman can advise the parents to change his name. A baby is never washed in clear water, as it may dirty it and make the spirist angry. Of course, with the times, those traditions tend to disappear…

Lantaen (or Lanten) tribe, Nam Deng village Laos
The Lan taen (or lantaen or Lanten) are living in north Laos, and marry only members of the tribe.This makes problems with genetics, and you can meet many people dumb or more...Not sure about what the lao governement do for them as many Lan Taen were wounded and asked for medics. They needed more a doctor than our paracetamol pills...
The Lanten tribes are sometimes called “Lao Houay” (stream Lao) because they choose to live near permanent streams. The indigo clothing worn by men and women immediately recognizes the Lanten. The women also shave their eyebrows upon reaching puberty and wear their hair in a traditional style.

Wat Phou (Vat Phu) is a ancient Khmer Hindu temple in south Laos. It is located down mount Phu Kao, 6 km from the Mekong in Champasak. it looks like a little Angkor, but is on a hill!

She said she is 100! I think she's more 70 or something like this...All the Hmong family live in the same house, so in this one, there a 100 years old woman, and a 1 month baby!

Coffins in a Thai Kaho minority village - Laos

This minority keeps some coffins under their own house when someone is ill. it is supposed to move away the bad spirits and the "death".
In France, nobody would do this!
So in this house, there was an old man who was very ill, and his family has put those coffins...
