Wembury Mood

Took a trip to Wembury on Saturday evening. Racing against rapidly fading light, we couldn't get round to Heybrook in time to see the sun set, so spent much of the time doing long exposures. This LE was taken after the sun had gone down, so no need for any filters. Converted to B&W in Camera RAW.

I played around with removing the headland in Photoshop to create a more striking image, but thought the result was a little too stark. I'll post it below though so let me know your thoughts:

Similar to a shot I have posted previously, but I quite like this composition with the a closer crop around the main rock and the additional rocks in the foreground.

Taken at Polkerris beach last Saturday evening as the sun was setting behind some fairly heavy cloud.

Taken yesterday evening at Charlestown, shortly after the sun had set. The tide was rushing back in and I thought I'd take a long exposure, hoping the waves crashing against the harbour wall would appear misty. I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out.

Blackchurch Rock

On Sunday Dan Sharp and I took the long drive up to North Devon to find this. It is Blackchurch Rock, located on Mouthmill Beach in North Devon. After we arrived at Brownsham car park we made the 4km walk through woods and fields and eventually arrived at the beach.

Once we arrived we realised it was worth all the effort, with these incredible straight-lined rock formations pointing towards Blackchurch Rock, making it look like something off Jurassic Park, and a brown coloured stream running through the formations. The weather conditions made it tricky, with lots of showers passing over us and a larger shower cutting our visit short, so I hope this shot has done it some justice!

I went down to Heybrook Bay yesterday afternoon with Daniel Sharp to capture some sunset shots. This one was taken just after the sun had disappeared beyond the horizon and some lovely pastel tones occupied the sky.
