The building began in 1214, following the canons of the Romanesque ogival style in its transition to the Gothic. The most thorough reform was undertaken in the 18th century and included the addition of the chapel of the Virgin del Manzano, the crypt for the burial of the Counts, a new apse and the tower. It currently houses the Museum of Sacred Art which contains mediaeval carved images, Flemish paintings, parchments and gold items.

Athena was one of the most powerful goddesses, and she protected cities, states and heroes, who often prayed to her for help with journeys and conquests. Although Athena was the goddess of war, she only supported those who fought with the right purpose in mind, and she much preferred thinking wisely through problems to come to a solution. Nonetheless, she protected armies in war and worked to insure the warriors a safe trip home.

Athena, the goddess of wisdom and military victory, was Hercules' half-sister. Her parents were Zeus and Metis, a nymph. Zeus heard a prophecy that the child Metis bore after she gave birth to Athena would become the lord of heaven, so, to prevent this from happening, he swallowed Metis while she was still pregnant with Athena.

When the time came for Athena to be born, the smith god, Hephaistos, opened Zeus' head with an axe, and Athena stepped out, in full armor.

Cobh was the last stop of the Titanic before it sunk in the ocean in 1912.
In the office of White Star Line the last tickets were sold for this tragic trip.
Now there is an exibition were you can see the glory of this historic ship.

Kilmainham Gaol (Jail) is one of the largest unoccupied gaols in Europe, it was involved in some of the most heroic and tragic events in Ireland's history and its emergence as a modern nation from 1780s to the 1920s.
it was built in 1796. Over the 128 years it served as a prison, its cells held many of the most famous people involved in the campaign for Irish independence. The British imprisoned and executed the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising here including Padraig Pearse, Joseph Plunkett and Thomas Clarke.
Children were sometimes arrested for petty theft and held in the prison, the youngest said to be a seven year-old boy. Many of the adult prisoners were eventually deported to Australia after their stay.
Kilmainham Gaol was closed as a prison in 1924, by the government of the new Irish Free State. Following lengthy renovation, Kilmainham Gaol now hosts a museum on the history of Irish nationalism
