The crab McKalip is holding is a male recognized by the bottom part of its shell that looks like the Washington Monument. Secretary Vilsack visited the University of Maryland Horn Point Center for Environmental Science in Cambridge, Maryland, Monday, September 20, 2010 while on a tour to visit rural communities, farmers and watermen to discuss funding for water and soil conservation programs available through the Department of Agriculture. The conservation programs will aid rural communities, farmers and watermen on the Chesapeake Bay in their efforts to improve the water quality of the Chesapeake Bay. Secretary of Agriculture Vilsacks "Rural Tour" (www.usda.gov/ruraltour) stop in Zanesville, Ohio.

The event featured a Town Hall meeting which allowed rural farmers a chance to not only ask the Secretary questions, but also ask Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown and Ohio Congressman Zack Space questions as well.

Other politcal figures present were Congressman Charlie Wilson and Ohio Governor Ted Strickland's wife, First Lady Francis Strickland.

Spicer has participated in the Natural Resources and Conservation Service Pine Release (aerial spraying) conservation practice available through the Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQUIP.)
