AKC Poultry houses bask in the sun in Arlington, GA on Mar. 7, 2013. AKC has eight chicken houses with approximately 20,000 birds per house. That is 160,000 birds, which translates into tons of litter. AKC was able to address their nutrient management and water quality concerns with a Stackhouse to better manage poultry litter through a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) contact. Stackhouses get the poultry litter off the ground so it will not contaminate water. Banamacc Farms owner Raul Moreno conservation plan calls for cross fencing and concrete pads around watering troughs. Moreno was able to secure funding for the improvements with a USDA NRCS Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) contract.
