The Gaff Schooner Mariette 1915 setting out to race in the Westward Cup.

Built for Jacob Frederick Brown, a Boston textile manufacturer. Brown owned her until 1927.
Her name was changed to Janeen and owned by Capt. Lou Boudreau for some time
Tom Perkins put her through a refit in 1995 at Cantiere Beconcini in La Spezia, Italy, restoring the yacht to her former glory with her eye-catching gaff topsail rig.

She is now a regular on the Mediterranean circuit and in 2005 Tom Perkins finally sold her to a French owner who continues to race her competitively.

Eleonora is an exact replica of the schooner Westward. Westward was launched on March 31, 1910 as hull number 692 at the Herreshoff Manufacturing Co. in Bristol, Rhode Island, USA. She was arguably one of the most famous and best known racing schooners in the world.
Eleonora was built at the Van der Graaf shipyard in Holland and was launched in March 2000. Since then, she has successfully participated in a number of classic sailing regattas and hosted on board a number of high profile guests during her charter activities.

Another couple of shots of the Eleonora at Cowes on Friday. Sadly by the time the racing started the blue skies had disappeared and replaced by blanket cloud and rain.
