Tiny World of Murray-Sunset National Park

Abandoned gypsum mine hopper, Murray-Sunset National Park.

We took a 5hrs drive through 4X4 tracks in the middle of no where to look for this abandoned mine hopper. It was just standing there in a vast plain. The structure is about 10-15m tall. It just look like something from a movie set.

This is a full 360 panoramic done with TS-E 17mm on a custom L-plate and a macro slider (for nodal point). Panorama was done with tilt value of about 1.5+.

Do you get banding in a clear blue sky? It's called posterization. How to fix banding in the sky?

SOLUTION: Go to channels in photoshop and see which one has the most noise, in this case it was the red channel. I sample the darker tone and then paint over the patches/banding with soft, low opacity brush. Next step is to add noise until you can not see the banding - done. Then I use to use imagenomic - noiseware to further reduce noise. You could also use blur and mask to just the sky.

EXTRA STEPS: Usually after post processing, there are patches of dark and light area in the sky. I run imagenomic - portraiture plug-in on the photo.

Portraiture plug-in is designed to clean skin tone on portrait images but it can also work on any images.

Which one do you prefer?

I only had minutes to capture one of the most beautiful sunset in Port Fairy. It was a hot day with temperature of to 39 Degrees and wind that was blowing out to the ocean. I was at home when I saw amazing colour coming through our lounge room window. I quickly got my gear together and ran to the car and out to the river.

Here is something that I haven't done for a while - a seascape! The fact that VIC is so much colder than NSW, it make me not want to get out and do sunrises. We were on the East side of Melbourne Bay on our day off and I had a bit of time to explore.

The water that morning was almost as smooth as glass with virtually no ripple, wave, or wind.

Car in the showground. A lot of the car had already left as we got there just before closing time. Good thing about going around this time is that you don't have to pay to get in - SCORED! (another $4.00 that can go into my "lens fund")

Port Fairy South West Street Rodders - 1959 Chevrolet Corvette

This photo was taken back in Jan 2011 when the streets of port fairy were full of Hot Rods! The whole town was transported back to the 50's.

I was walking to our shop and found this wonderful restoration park on the street.
