Tons of people, tons of photographers. I should have gotten an earlier start.
Brookside Gardens. The variety of tulips was not as great this year, at least not as great as years past. Still, a pretty nice day to be out and about.

Thought I would bypass the pier tonight and post this abstract .
Lighting created by my new favorite LED flashlight and a hand held strobe, mixed with natural light. A wide open shot @ f/2.8 created a fantastic out of focus element to the Japanese teapot. All set on a black reflector.

the end of the road

Though my time is running out, I will hold on until the very end.

I wanted to stretch the boundaries and try something a little different this time.
This Gerbera was facing its end, yet fiercly held on to its colors. The stem was too weak to hold the flower up and kept drooping. I ended up placing this in a simple soda bottle on a black background and shot it from above. I used an LED flashlight on the bottle and a strobe fitted with a diffuser, handheld from the top right of the gerbera.
I was pleased with the results, as the bright bokeh to the lower left complemented the greens and magentas on the right. The shallow DoF also added to overall experience.

A boulder strewn with fallen leaves by the banks of a stream. That little flash of white bokeh is a mini water fall.

These scarves were on sale, but we did not buy any. After seeing these patterns and lines, I took pictures of them instead. Now we have a memorable souvenir.

Takumar-A 28-80mm Zoom manual lens for you old schoolers. Pulled this one out of my late father's camera bag. A vintage manual zoom fitted with a reversing ring. I have found that reverse rings do not work well with lenses designed for today's DSLRs. Manual lenses give better control over over aperture and focus. This was shot at 50mm and f/8.0 on a Canon 5DMKII. Still practicing this form of macro photography.

The aftermath of our snowstorm last weekend......lol, barely a dusting. This is what was left of it, a few frozen flakes that the sun had yet to reach. Another reason why I like to shoot early in the morning.
