Logo on a poster for the up-and-coming group The Mowgli's [sic]. That's right, apostrophe abuse appears to be enshrined in their name.

I've found on the Web a couple justifications for the appearance of that misused mark:

1) The group's name will be mispronounced without the apostrophe (mow-GLISS instead of mow-GLEEZ).

2) According to one of the group's members, "Our friend had an amazing wolf dog named Mowgli. It always felt that we kind of belonged to him and we were Mowgli's people -- hence the apostrophe in our name."

No matter the spin, it still looks doesn't look right.

(Don't get me wrong...their debut song "San Francisco" is a very catchy tune.)

Not the English-language derogatory term but, rather, the word “End” in Danish (Swedish, too).

Found on a 35mm film print (ironically, of a teen-oriented movie) made in Denmark.

A very curious lab error resulted in an Academy countdown leader (calibrated in feet of 35mm film) printed over an SMPTE Universal leader (calibrated in seconds).

Ford Y-Block V-8 emblem applied to a valve cover. Emblems like this one originally were placed on the fenders of mid-fifties Ford sedans equipped with the 272-cid Y-Block OHV V-8 engine (cars with 292-cid Y-Blocks sported Thunderbird Y-V8 emblems).

A few years ago I was looking for a set of valve covers to replace the leaky ones on the 292 of my 1964 F-100 and found a set with these emblems, which I had to have if not exactly original.

It should read FORTITUDE, but the inoperative letter R has made this virtuous term somewhat of a vice.

Travel trailers (caravans) and other trailers designed for human occupancy are issued regular trailer plates, renewed annually.
