Black Forest Girl

What do people expect who come to the Black Forest?
They will see and maybe buy the expected cuckoo clocks.
They will eat as much Black Forest cake as they can I hope.
They will enjoy the beautiful Black Forest landscape.
But there is one thing which is hard to find - Black Forest girls in famous historical Black Forest dresses with Bollenhut. The young lady in the image is wearing such a costume and hat. The red woolen balls are the "Bollen" of the "Bollenhut". There are 14 balls on the hat and if the girl is not married the balls are red. If she is married they are black (of course).
In six years living here I've seen just 4 girls in dresses like this. So if you come to the Black Forest ask me where to find them (or look at the map on the right hand sight).

P.S.: I was asked why are there 14 balls. The answer is:
In the past 14 patrons were supposed to protect the Black Forest against the plague. They are represented in the 14 balls.
That's what I was told. I can't guarantee that this is the only or the only right answer to that question.

As you can see it was nicer here in May. All the pastures are grazed or the grass was cut. The cow herds stay for about five days on one pasture and change to another pasture then. So when I'm looking for insects to photograph I have to search for one of the few places with enough grass or plants for the insects to live on.

Wie man sehen kann, war es hier im Mai noch schöner. Alle Weiden sind abgegrast oder abgemäht. Die Kuhherden bleiben für etwa fünf Tage auf einer Weide und wechseln dann auf eine andere. Wenn ich auf der Suche nach Insekten bin, muss ich nach einem der wenigen Plätze ausschau halten, an denen es noch genug Gras und Pflanzen für die Insekten gibt.
