Alliance Francaise Dublin's 3rd Photography Award Exhibition. Shortlisted Photographers are: Kate Nolan, Maurice Gunning, Ieva Baltaduonyte, and Kenneth O'Halloran.Members of the public can vote for their favourite artist by using the ballot paper provided and bringing it to the AF reception desk for validation by 01 May 2013. The AF Gallery Committee will take the public vote into account when making their final choice and the winner will be announced at the end of the exhibition.

Photography Exhibition runs:
7 November – 21 December 2012, Alliance Francaise Dublin

Senija Topcic, born in the former Yugoslavia, currently lives and works in Dublin. Using a documentary style, she aims to provoke and expose the juxtaposition of people and place, moving from the particular to the universal. She is attracted by stories of quotidian occurrences, taking seemingly banal situations and delving into them for another meaning. In this exhibition, the photographs are of an old Protestant rectory outside Kenmare, Co. Kerry. On entering the house, Senija was struck by the notion of stillness and of decay and was moved by the contrast of once-cherished items rendered unrecognisable by time.

This image was captured during a workshop held by dlr and Aoife Giles in Marlay Park House using a coffee jar as a camera! There's a great market in the grounds every Saturday from 10am-4pm. Well worth a visit.

One of the longest ever photographic exhibitions of marine life is on display on Dún Laoghaire’s East Pier. Stretching the whole length of the pier (approx 1.6k), the exhibition, which will be on view from 7th July to 3rd August, will capture the first ever outdoor photographic exhibition of “Tara Oceans, A Worldwide Portrait of Marine Plankton*” discovered during a recent expedition of a scientific team on the schooner Tara.

19/6/2012 Dublin - 2nd Alliance Francaise Photography Award 2012 winner is Miriam O'Connor. Image features Director of Alliance Francaise Dublin, Claire Bourgeois presenting Miriam with her prize of a return flight to Paris for a two-week stay in the Centre Culturel Irlandais, a €500 grant sponsored by Ireland Fund of France and French courses at the Alliance Francaise Dublin prior to the trip.
