The fiery furnace is an area within Arches National Park in Utah. They call it that because of the red color of the rocks, not because it gets especially hot there (though it does get pretty hot in the southeast Utah desert). The red rocks on the left in this image are the edge of the fiery furnace, and the La Sal Mountains are in the distance.
