This is a picture of the ancient manor house at Ightham Mote [pronounced "Item moat" (The name "mote" derives from "moot", meaning "meeting [place]", rather than referring to a body of water surrounding a house or castle)]. It is a National Trust managed medieval moated manor house close to the village of Ightham, near Sevenoaks in Kent, UK. Originally dating from the 1320s (the chapel completed in the 16th C), its owners maintained the original features and there have been few changes to the main property. What is seen today is what similar houses would have looked like in England in the Middle Ages.

This is ONLY a record-shot (with a PS frame) for those that like more "traditional" presentation. . . it would never win any pictorial competitions, but it is a record of what the place looked like on the day I pressed the shutter.

Into the light - A Country Path to Enlightenment (perhaps?!)

This is a cross-country footpath through the magnificent grounds of Knole Park, a National Trust managed property. There is a vast amount of land, which was used by King Henry VIII as a hunting ground whenever he stayed at the house. The grounds are still populated with Fallow and Sika deer, both of which are a joy to see.

THIS MUST BE VIEW AGAINST BLACK SO PLEASE CLICK HERE

The weather was overcast and the sky beyond looked ominous; but I liked the idea of travelling along the path to the distant light formed in the "V" of the tree line in the distance, like a beckoning beacon!!! The young lady here, rests as she contemplates the journey ahead of her. Black and white conversion completed in CS3. I love the almost traditional "silvery" black and white tones that I have produced here.

This was entered in an interclub comp representing the CCC (my camera club) - it achieved the lowest score of the night from 40 images!!! 15/20!!! Very disappointed!!!

This is a battle melee on the battlefield at Bodiam Castle Medieval festival. The re-enactors were recreating a possible battle during the War of the Roses - The house of York against the house of Lancaster.

There is a great deal of noise during an engagement like this; shouting, hollering and the clashing of metal on metal. Superb spectacle and I recommend all photographers to attend one of these events.
The effect created here was to emulate a dark red filter taken black & white image, with a slight infrared feel. A very light sepia tint was applied over all the image.
